I love sandwiches. They're easy, quick, easy to handle, and the options are literally ENDLESS! But when trying to watch your carbs it's usually not the best idea to have an egg sandwich for breakfast, some type of wrap for lunch, and soup with a grilled cheese sandwich at night. If I were to have that menu today using the type of whole grain bread I have on hand and tortillas for the wrap I would get 85 carbs from the breads ALONE! That doesn't count everything I'd put in them and the snacks I'd have between.
What are some other options? I've found that I can use a large lettuce leaf as "wrap" for any kinds of meats or "salads" (chicken, egg, etc..) Also just using one piece of bread is an easy way to cut down the carbs and you don't have to sacrifice the taste. It's not as easy to handle as with both pieces of bread but it works.
What do you do to watch your carb intake and what are some substitutions you make?

Try whole wheat pita bread. You can find them in the bread or deli section. They usually have a small and large size. You can cut them in half and stuff them full of veggies and your meat.
Also they make low carb whole wheat tortillas in the refrigerated section.
How about rye bread or sourdough bread? I read those can be good for you? Try to find a bread without sugar/corn syrup with a high fiber count.
I am only trying to watch the "bad" carbs and limit my servings of the other good (complex) carbs. I bought this Peppridge Farm soft german dark wheat bread that is really good. The slices are large but I only have one sandwich a day. So I don't think it is bad to have carbs every meal just watch your servings and what type of carbs?
yeah, have you ever gone to a Jimmy Johns?
They have wraps made with lettuce wraps! They call them "Un-which Wraps" ahaha
I love low carbs ahaha Check out my blog i have a whole bunch more updates coming up
@christine - No I haven't heard of that place before. I'll have to check it out, sounds great! And yeh I looked at your blog, can't wait to see more updates. Love it so far!
Your body does need a certain percentage of carbs each day in order to function. Your brain uses carbs, for instance, when you eat a low carbohydrate diet, you may feel groggy or in a brain fog.
Make sure that you are looking more importantly at calories. Calories are what help you (as well as carbs) to keep going throughout the day. But, most people don't realize how many calories they are consuming and they typically eat like 1,000 more calories than they are supposed to...which eventually turns into body fat.
You should look more into a low calorie diet than a low carb diet. But always make sure that you are eating plenty of calories to have energy throughout the day.
